field far beyond form and emptiness
wearing the Tathagata’s teaching

Purification

All my ancient twisted karma
from beginningless greed hate and delusion
born through body speech and mind

Refuges

I take refuge in Buddha
before all beings
immersing body and mind
deeply in the way
awakening true mind

I take refuge in Dharma
before all beings
entering deeply
the merciful ocean
of Buddha’s way

I take refuge in Sangha
before all beings
bringing harmony
to everyone
free from hindrance

(English Translation

Avalokiteshvara, Perceiver of the cries of the world,
takes refuge in Buddha,
will be a Buddha,
helps all to be Buddhas,
is not separate from Buddha, Dharma, Sangha —
being eternal, intimate, pure and joyful.
In the morning, be one with Avalokiteshvara,
In the evening, be one with Avalokiteshvara,
whose heart, moment by moment, arises,
whose heart, moment by moment, remains!)
