Sansuikyo is often considered the most beautiful essay in Dogen’s writing. Here he talks about concrete things as mountains and waters, but expressed in his unique poetic language with rich layers of metaphor and meaning. Entering deeply into this study, we are rewarded with an opportunity to awaken to the Zen spirit.
The text, in Carl Bielefeldt’s translation, will be supplied, with a commentary by Daido Loori.
We will also use The Mountains and Waters Sutra - A Practitioner’s Guide to Dogen’s ‘Sansuikyo’
