Join us for a (mostly) SILENT RETREAT at Siena Retreat Center https://www.sienaretreatcenter.org/
at the end of June, 2022, in Racine, Wisconsin, about 45 minutes S from MZC. It starts with arrival at Siena Center at 3 pm on Sunday, June 26, and ends at 3 pm on the following Tuesday.
NOTE: There will be no zoom option, and the retreat will not be recorded.
The Siena Center, home of the Racine Dominican Sisters, has been a favorite place of refuge and contemplation for many people of different backgrounds. MZC hosted a Branching Streams conference there in 2019, and Reirin has often been asked to co-teach at interfaith events.
Dominican contemplatives observe silence in a similar way as Zen practitioners; they “seek to be a catalyst for a more just and compassionate world” and create “an environment of peace, joy, and beauty”.
Each of us will be staying in a comfortable separate room with private bath, https://www.sienaretreatcenter.org/retreat-accommodations
and we will have the use of a large meeting room with a kitchen. This gives us the opportunity of having our own (vegan) meals in the formal oryoki style. (You may bring additional food if needed.)
There will be time to enjoy the grounds of Siena Center, which include a natural prairie, a small forest, a private beach along Lake Michigan, and also a Cretan-style, 7-circuit labyrinth.
REGISTRATION: Please register soon, as there will be a maximum number of 20 participants. {registration form here} by e-mail to info@mkzen.org or by mail to the address below
